Bright red satin over wooden boards. Very large silver and Gold-bronze relief central metal pieces on both covers. Four Cherubs and large sidepieces depicting the Evangelists and other Holy. The central pieces depicting the crucifixion and the resurrection. All pieces connected through an ornamental relief bond, small stars. Inscriptions in Greek on the pieces.

Engraved frontispiece, frontispiece portrait and 94 engraved plates. Occasional foxing and spotting. Armorial bookplate for Charles Barkley.
For the Boydell edition were specially erected a type foundry, an ink factory and a printer’s workshop.
